Wilbert H. Hilgedick, 92 of Warrensburg, Missouri, formerly of Higginsville died on Saturday, October 29, 2016, at Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg, Missouri.

Born Sunday, September 28, 1924 in Higginsville, Missouri, he was the son of the late Gust Hilgedick and the late Minnie Hoelscher Hilgedick.

He retired from the Army after serving in World War ll, Korean War and Vietnam War from 1946 until 1966. He was a member of the Higginsville American Legion Post #223.

He was a member of the Missouri Draft Horse and Mule Association and received the Linch Pin award in 2005 in recognition of his dedication to the historical preservation and utilization of the Draft Horse and Mule. He was a member of the Crooked River Draft Horse and Mule Club in Buckner, MO. He was also a member of the Missouri Farmers Association.

Wilbert lived most of his life in Higginsville until moving to Warrensburg in 2010. He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ.

He is survived by five nieces and three nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and four brothers; Roy, Arla, Elmer and Norman Hilgedick.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday at Salem United Church of Christ with the Rev. Dr. Tommy L. Faris officiating and Jamie Smith, organist. Interment will be in Salem Cemetery, Higginsville, MO.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at Salem United Church of Christ.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to Salem United Church of Christ or Salem Cemetery.
