Steve Long, 53 of Higginsville, Missouri died on Friday, February 17, 2017, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri..

Born Thursday, July 30, 1963 in Lexington, Missouri, he was the son of Donald R. Long Jr. and Susie Helliker Long.

Steve lived all of his life in Higginsville and was a member of The First Baptist Church, Higginsville. He graduated in 1981 from Lafayette County C-1 High School and was currently the Right of Way Coordinator at West Central Electric.

Steve loved life and enjoyed spending time at the lake, boating, fishing, hunting and being surrounded by friends.

Surviving are his two sons, Colby (Lacey) Long of Higginsville, and Cabot (friend, Jennifer) Long of Fayette, MO; special friend, Katie Robertson of Higginsville; his parents, Don and Susie Long of Higginsville; one brother, Jimmy Long of Triplett, MO; one sister, Debbie Long of Higginsville; one grandson, Sawyer Mitchell Long.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at First Baptist Church Gymnasium in Higginsville with Dr. Greg Fine officiating.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Monday, February 20, 2017, at First Baptist Church Gymnasium. Memorial contributions may be sent to First Baptist Church or Missouri Brain Injury Association.
