Robert "Bob" Haynes, 75 of Higginsville, Missouri died on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at his home in Higginsville.

Born Saturday, September 5, 1942 in Higginsville, he was the son of the late Norman Haynes and the late Sophie Jackson Haynes. He was the husband of Joyce (Goode) Haynes.

He was a graduate of Higginsville High School, class of 1961. He was a member of St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church and attended St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Higginsville as well.

He served as a Corporal in the United States Army from 1964 until 1967, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He served two years in the National Guard and thirty years in active Army Reserves as a battalion chief officer attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class. He was a long time member of the Higginsville VFW. After his time in the Army he worked as a central maintenance supervisor at the Claycomo Ford Plant, retiring in 2006.

Surviving are his wife, Joyce Haynes; 4 sons, John (Shawn) Smith of Higginsville, Wendell Haynes of Grain Valley, MO, Rowan (Tracy) Haynes of Higginsville and Blythe (Tonya) Smith of Pittsburgh, PA; 3 daughters, Joanna Scott of Marietta, GA, Yevette Thursten of Slater, MO and Phyllis Haynes of Odessa, MO; 2 brothers, Ronald Haynes of Cedar Hill, TX and Amiel Haynes of Higginsville; 15 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Norman Haynes, Jr. and Charles Stan Haynes.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 21, 2018 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Higginsville with Rev. Tyrone Thirkield officiating, Rev. Everette Hannon assisting, and Bruce Kerr keyboardist. Interment will follow the service in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville.

Casket bearers: Finus Johnson, Aaron Haynes, Ron Haynes, Donald Elmore, Sidney Benton, Cedric Haynes. Honorary bearers: Danny Long, Ron Jungeblut, Bosh Bruening.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Monday, May 21, 2018, at the church. Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church.
