John Emmett Helm, 82 of Kansas City, Missouri died on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at V.A. Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

Born Thursday, February 22, 1934 in Holden, Missouri, he was the son of the late Frank M. Helm and Mary Elizabeth Rigg Helm. Also preceded in death was one son, Larry D. Helm, one daughter, Beth M. Helm, 2 brothers, Glen H. and Francis Eugene Helm, and 2 sisters, Betty Fay Andrews and Kathryn Louise Harmon.

He attained the rank of Corporal serving in the Marine Corps from 1951 until 1954 during the Korean War. He and Mona Inez Jackson were married on November 27, 1954. John lived most of his life in the Kansas City, Missouri area; he was a Mason and a member ot Ararrat Shrine Temple. He was also a member of Church Of God in Anderson, Indiana. John owned, and was the sales representative, for Helm Industries, a laundry and dry cleaning equipment company.

Surviving are his wife, Mona I. Helm of the home in Kansas City, Mo., four sons, John A. Helm of Kearney, MO, David E. Helm of Kansas City, MO, Rod L. Helm of Independence, MO and Garry D. (Gena) Helm of Blue Springs, MO, brothers, Billy R. Helm of Hamilton, MO, Donald Lee (Shirley) Helm of Independence, MO, Roy M. (Mary) Helm of Holden, MO and James Allen (Brenda) Helm of Lynn Creek, MO, sisters, Barbara Jean(Gene) Holtgroe of Osceola, MO, Mary A. (Jimmy) Banister of Urbana, MO, Judith Ann (Daniel) Green of Blue Springs, MO and Janice W. Klassen of Mountain Lake, MN; 8 grand children; and 10 great grand children.

A Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 5, 2016 at the Missouri Veterans Chapel. Interment will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO.
