Darlene Woods, 68 of Higginsville, Missouri died on Thursday, May 3, 2018, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.

Born Friday, October 28, 1949 in Lexington, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Wilburn Woods and the late Ruth Fields Woods.

She graduated from Lafayette C-1 High School in 1967. She was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. Darlene has lived in Independence, MO, moving to Chicago, Illinois then back to Higginsville, MO in 2003. She worked at Western Electric in Kansas City then Darlene worked as an underwriter for American General insurance Company in Chicago, IL retiring in 2003.

Surviving are one brother, Wilburn "PeeWee" (Annerose) Woods of Higginsville, MO; one sister, Debra Woods of Overland Park, KS.

She is preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Betty C. Woods.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Everette Hannon, officiating and Evangelist Evelyn Elmore, soloist. Interment will be in City Cemetery, Higginsville, MO.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM on Friday, May 11, 2018, at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church.The family suggest memorials to American Diabetes Association.

Casket bearers are George Bass, Larry Haynes, Aaron Haynes, Ron Haynes, Glenn Elmore & Floyd Elmore. Honorary bearer is Cohl Riddlespriger.
