Clayton Lee Hoover, 72 of Higginsville, Missouri died on Sunday, January 28, 2018, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, Missouri.

Born Thursday, November 15, 1945 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of the late Edward Hoover and the late Edna Border Hoover. He married Ethelene Thames Hoover on November 14, 1970 and she preceded him in death on October 8, 2012.

He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Higginsville VFW. He served in the United States Army from November 1967 through October 1969 during the Vietnam War. He was a truck driver for MFA Fertilizer Plant, retiring in 2008.

Surviving are two sons, Ronnie (Rhonda) Hoover of Lexington, MO and Randy (Cicily) Hoover of Concordia, MO; one daughter, Loretta Wood of Concordia; three brothers, Harry Hoover of Holt, MO, Larry (Sarah) Sizemore of Van Buren, AR and William (Reba) Gregory of Clinton, MO; four sisters, Juanita Jeffries of Holt, Shirley LaPradd of Princeton, KY, Florence (Roy) Lowery of Princeton, and Roxie Tarwaters of Holt; ten grandchildren, Clayton Julian, Erin Julian, Shawn Shepard, McKenzie Hoover, Lettie Summers, Anthony Hoover, Ashley (Jacob) O'Dell, Randi Poindexter, Austin Hoover, Alicisha Hoover; eight great grandchildren, Madison Stevens, Remington Hoover, Cash Hoover, Carson Hoover, Beau O'Dell, Makayla O'Dell, Brendon Howell, Madison Howell and Jade Alt.

He is preceded in death by his wife Ethelene Hoover; two sisters, Linnie Anglin and Linda Gergory; one great granddaughter, Kirsten Wrisinger..

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Higginsville with Dr. Greg Fine officiating, Marsha Madole organist, and Dennis Million vocalist. Interment will be in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at First Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be sent to Family Choice.

Casket bearers are Randy Hoover, Anthony Hoover, Austin Hoover, Jacob O'Dell, Donnie Heuser, Dallas Heuser, Hunter Heuser, Delman Mosher, and Andrew Nevels.
